Job Title: Billing Support Specialist

FLSA:  Non-Exempt

Reports To:   Billing Manager 

Department:  Billing

SUMMARY:

This position performs the billing process for the Behavioral Health services division.  The person will handle billing submission activities.  Employee will also perform other work associated with the billing process. 

In addition to the details and requirements for the employee listed below, Folium expects the employee be committed to incorporating principles of trauma informed care in all areas of service delivery. Trauma informed care includes cultural sensitivity and emphasizes a safe and respectful environment for all clients and staff. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works to master the current EHR System and suggest changes to procedures to maximize efficiency.
  • Checks figures, posting and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper coding.
  • Monthly EVS checks for Family Based and IBHS Claims.
  • Prepares weekly bank deposits for Insurance Checks.
  • Processes encounters for correct coding to bill to insurances
  • Codes documents/claims according to company procedures and Insurance requirements.

    • Family Based Claims
    • Outpatient Claims
  • Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Submits claims via EDI Process.
  • Communicates with Clinicians, Doctors and Supervisors on Outstanding claims.
  • At month end, reviews claims are completed so monthly reports can be run by the CFO.
  • Keeps updated on all billing and benefit changes for insurance carriers. 
  • Monitors claims for missing information, authorization/control numbers.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information.
  • Completes work within authorized time to assure compliance with department standards. 
  • Keeps updated on all billing requirements and changes for insurance types within their area of responsibility.

SKILLS

Must be able to bill Behavioral Health insurance claims and understand billing requirements.  Detail oriented is a must with good verbal and written communication skills.  Must have good customer service skills in dealing with the collection process.

EDUCATION

Knowledge of medical billing and/or accounting procedures needed.  Post high school training at the business college level, Associates Degree or related experience, is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work setting is an office facility.  Clientele may at times be verbally abusive.
